150 Forbes Street is an Art Deco building originally constructed in the early 1930's as a car service centre and was the first commercial building in Sydney to be converted to residential dwellings in the 1980's. The interiors were a complete mis-match with the stunning original deco exterior. The aim was to honour the history, elegance and design aesthetic of the building and turn this large one bedroom 1980's lack-luster apartment into a stylish two bedroom apartment that was an homage to the classic "Paris apartment". By introducing a new false ceiling that allowed for decorative cornices, ceiling roses and pendant lighting and laying a chevron floor, the space was the perfectly canvas for a smart, practical residence for a professional couple who loved listening to music and entertaining.
